Hey there,
Been thinking of putting chains on my rear tires for ages now - just came across a local deal, but I'm unsure on sizing...

My tires are 16.9x24 Industrial.

The chains are advertised as 11 feet long and 2 feet wide - they are a simple ladder style.

Will these fit close enough to try to make it work? Price is $275 Canadian.

Sean.

Those chains will be too long BUT they can be cut down to work.

I can't find any reference anywhere that would actually tell me what size (length and width) is correct. I can plug my tire size in and get models to buy - but not an actual size.

How much too big are they? If they are too long - can they simply be overlapped?

I had the same problem trying to find chains for mine.
Ended up buying a set and they fit my MF50. Ran them till the 50 died & just cut them down for the 1510.

I have no idea how much too long they will be.
Yes you MAY be able to overlap but it is easier to just cut them. If you need them restored in the future, just add a repair link.

On this end of the country I called this outfit and told them my tire size and type. (36-14x15 turf) They do a lot of logging equipment chains and other off road equipment.

They made up a set of 2 link V bar ladder chains that fit well. Only problem I had was the sent 20 cross links per chain and they should have sent 21. I called again and they sent an extra cross link for both chains to fill the gap being one short left.
I have run loaded turf tires with ladder chains on a couple different tractors and they have work well.

Redfox2 - I've never found an EASY way. Jack up one rear tire at a time. Pull the chains over and tug, curse, pull, squeeze - then lock them off. Drive the tractor for 50 feet - if they are loose - do it all again.

OR - have your brother-in-law come over and instal them for you.

If you have heavy duty tractor chains - as I did - they are EXCEPTIONALLY heavy.

One of my happiest day was when I upgraded to my Kubota M6040 and NO LONGER needed chains.

Easiest way to get an approximate length is to figure out where on the sidewall the side chains will be and multiply the diameter they will make by 3.14. It'll be approximate but it'll give you a rough idea...............Mike

Forum- General Forums- Snow Removal -Mounting tire chains

I posted the thread Mounting tire chains in the snow removal forum.
It will show how I mount chains,
I am mounting on a larger tire then yours, the smallest that I have mounted chains on are 11.2-24's
I'm not sure how my method will work with the smaller tires, I think it would be good.

As a follow up - I did end up getting those chains. They were about 8 inches too long. I simply overlapped them and connected, then attached the slack with quick links. Used 3 bungee cords per side as tensioners and I'm off to the races.
