Removed my 46 backhoe from my 2520 today for the first time which was sort of a pita.

Well actually the hardest part was removing the pins holding the front of the frame to the mounting brackets. I kept adjusting the stabilizers and boom to see if the pins would just slip out which they wouldn't so I worked them out with a small pry bar. I see they are tapered so to put them in it might be easiest to tap them in place with a hammer?

For those of you who have had your BH on and off a few times, is there an easy way to remove the pins? Any other BH removal and installation tips you can pass along for us new BH owners?

Thanks for the help

On My 2320 it took a few times before I learned about where things had to be to get the front pins out. Now I may have to make 1 or 2 adjustments, but it has gotten much easier.

I don't use the stabalizers to lift, I use the boom to take the preasure off the front pins, and remove the BH. I do put the stabalizers down some, not sure why, maybe I figure I'll flip it on its side while going on or off.

The hooks on the backhoe that grab the rear of the tractor have bolts that adjust a plate for tweaking the slop of the backhoe. They are over adjusted and not leaving enough play to slide the front pins into place. move the plates back.

The backhoe has terrible balance, if leave it on the ground for an extended period of time the bucket will leak down (or up) and the backhoe will slowly start to tip back raising the front rails until you can't back over them. I rest the base of the boom on a cinder block with wood board on top. The weight is then supported on block and rails. Lower the outriggers and bucket to the ground for ballance and to prevent leak down.

Some times the quick connects build up pressure because it was cold when you unloaded the backhoe and it has been sitting in the sun all day and the hydro fluid has expanded. This prevents the engagement value from opening. Wrap the end of the line in a rag and hit it with a hammer to release some fluid and drop the pressure so you can attach the line. This tip also applies all the other hydro attachments.

Aligning the backhoe to get it back on is not a science, really it is more of a witchcraft.

Good luck.

Getting the backhoe to align is a fine dance with the outriggers and bucket. You have to get the hooks to engage using the outriggers to raise the back, but then you have to back them off a bit so the backhoe bucket can be used to raise the front by raising bucket and forcing the backhoe to rotate on the hook like a seesaw and raising the front. A hammer can be your best friend.
