Not knowing how to use a box scraper when I got my tractor, I only purchased the tilt cylinder and control. After seeing a neighbor use the tip cylinder I had to add it. Unfortunately the dealer quoted me $700 to add another valving setup and 2nd control lever. I ended up getting the tip cylinder from the dealer for $225, selector valve from Northern $79, quick disconnects and hoses $150 appx., and put this system together. I have to use the selector valve to choose a cylinder but over all it works well. What I gained in control over the box scraper easily made up for the money and effort.
My suggestion to anyone buying a new tractor would be to order all of the extra valving up front even if you're not sure how you'll use it. It's a whole lot cheaper and easier to have it available later.

Seems like you made a good choice, Branch. It seems to me that most T-n-T systems are overpriced and I have thought about doing what you did by using a selector valve. I figure you are only going to adjust either top or tilt at any given instant, so you don't need dual control valves. Then I start thinking that it's an extra valve anyway you look at it, so it doesn't matter. I truly don't know which is the best way to go. Please let us know how it works after you have had it for awhile. Also, if you use some implement like a post-hole digger that doesn't use the top link, let us know how easily the toplink comes off/goes on.

You are now in charge of this research.../w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

I will occasionally forget to switch the selector and tip when I should tilt but I'd probably do the same thing if I had both levers on the fender. Most of the time I have the tilt set for a job and 90% of lever action is tipin for forward and backward scraper work. As others have mentioned you spend most of your time looking backwards anyway so if the selector valve is set right I don't have to feel around for the right lever, there's only one there.
As to taking off the top link, I've included another picture that's a closeup of the selector valve. I spent the extra money on quick disconnects so that the entire system can be switched around, or entirely removed within 5 minutes. It takes about as long to wipe off dribbled fluid as it does to remove it.

I see what you mean, Branch. Now...if we use a solenoid actuated valve...switch mounted to the control lever...hmmm? I think this has possibilities. How about "electro-select" T-n-T? Sounds wicked doesn't it?
