I just installed my Tiny-Tach diesel tach and have a question. In light of all the "fast idle, engine life, etc" debate here, I was curious about my rpms, but puzzled by my BX23 readings.
At the lowest throttle setting, the RPMs show 1280. At the fastest setting, it shows 3390 rpm. Since the BX23 has it's engine and PTO rated at 3200 rpm, I'm inclined to believe the high reading. However, I'm puzzled by the 1280 rpm on the lowest throttle setting. Do these diesels really idle that fast? Maybe I'm not a good judge of a diesel idle, but it doesn't sound as fast as that to me.
Any comments from other tiny-tach owners, or other owners with built in tachs? Thanks!
