JD5300
Hi there

I've had a JD 5300 for about 7 years. It's been a great, reliable workhorse, but sadly, health issues are forcing the sale of our farm. We have an offer, so I'm working up the sale of the tractor. I'd like to hold onto it for a bit for the last-minute issues that come up, but I'm concerned that if I wait too long, I'd lose some opportunities. Is there much fluctuation in tractor sales and demand throughout the year?

Details:
JD 5300 4WD, 4250 hours
540 loader
5' Woods mower
quick release bucket, forks, bale spear
Thinking of asking $18k

Thank you!
Rich

I would think now is the time to put it for sale. If you are for sure you need it just wait until you are sure you won't need it and then pull the plug. I have heard spring is a good time, but if it is priced to sell someone is always looking for one.

Looks like a nice sized tractor for food-plotters,too small for most farms these days.I would think spring would be the best time to sell.

I think you are better served to start listing it now, if potential buyers get it in their head that you really need to sell this unit "right now" then it leads to getting low-balled on your price. Short of some kind of tax issue there is no "season" for these tractors.

This may be a dumb question, but have you tried to sell it to the people buying the farm? I've found that to be a more standard practice than I would have expected. I know a retired state cop who bought a small farm with equipment already in place, a "turn key" deal.

Not a dumb question :) We mentioned it in the listing, but the buyers don't need a machine that big. Thanks!
