We have a small area by the creek that we use as a picnic area and after the storms last spring, it looked like the hillside in the background. Got it all cleaned up so time to reseed before we get rain today. First photo, was after running the tiller over it, a little wet then let it dry for a day and a half. It rained early this morning so need to run over it again then last two photos are sowing it before it rains again this evening. Wish I had better pictures.

looks good, what's that hanging off the back of the disc harrow? also how much seed/area did you use? i have to do something similar in my pasture, was planning on discing, raking, seeding, and then raking again to cover the seeds.. some folks say to roll it to help keep the seed in the dirt, my area is sloped as well so that might make sense to do.. don't forget to send some updated photos when that green stuff starts poking through the dirt?

cheers,
bigballer

That thing hanging off the back is a drag, I was really rushed, due to the weather forecast calling for rain, so I took the only piece of chain link fence I could find and some 2X4's and made the drag and chained it to the disc. There's about 3/4 acre ground there and I put 25lb. of seed on it, wanted it thick. Good thing I hurried, it came a good shower about 45 minutes after I got to the house. I went back down today to see if it had washed out anywhere and I got another picture, the creek was running pretty good, it is usually dry.

Went back today to see if all this rain has done any damage, looks good so far. It's been one week today since I sowed the seed so I'll post another pic and keep it up once a week to monitor the progress. There's deer and Cayote tracks all over. Since watching grass grow is not much fun, I decided to take a walk on down the creek to see what I could see, hadn't been down that way in years.

I sure wish there were, I think they like colder water than we have here, and between rains, the creek stops running and there's just a few holes of water. When I was a kid playing there, seems to me there was always water running, but that was a looooong time ago.:)

Is that seed spreader a home-made job or comercial? I haven't thought of rigging anything up, but I don't want to part with the $ right now for a spreader.
What a beautiful area. keep us posted!
