Timbren rear suspension system ??

Back to trucks and springs and such....I went with the factory rear air leveling system on my 2016 Ram 2500. I tow a lot and I like the fact that my truck maintains it's level loaded or not without any input from me. Also, I can back up to my trailer using the camera, press a button and lower the ball about 1.5", get under the coupler, press the button and raise back up and the amount of jacking/lowering to get coupled is reduced greatly. That's perhaps an unintended side benefit.

This is a factory order type of deal though, and not available to install later. But if you are in the market for a new truck, it's a good box to check.

Dave, you are correct on the Ram air level system pretty darn slick setup IMHO.We do not tow enough to justify the $$ when I ordered my 2016 Ram 2500.If I towed a lot it would be a top priority.

if you do not mind giving up some bed space, the other thing we have installed into both our 2015 3500 and 2016 2500 is the Transfer Flow toolbox and fuel tank combo. 40 gallons extra fuel is sure great if you do long trips, or even short trips if you are pulling heavy. When I haul any direction but south, I have to cross a mountain range. With a loaded gooseneck trailer with a tractor or two on it, fuel mileage going over the Sierra Nevada range is dismal. But with 70 gallons, even if you are pulling hard you have good range. And empty, I ran from Kalispell to Red Bluff and still had 1/3 tank. That's 950 miles.

Just trying to help you spend your money!

Just out of curiosity, what's the cost of this option? Always been a Ford guy, but Ram is making some **** nice looking trucks. Never know what the next one will be.

$1595 is MSRP on the auto-level system. Since you normally pay about 80% of MSRP when you buy a new truck, this option comes out to ~$1275. Well worth it if you tow often or load the bed up heavy often.

I don't know if it really makes a difference, but on long trips, even empty and not towing, I will lower the rear suspension. It is my theory that this can help fuel mileage just a tad. I know when I raised my Jeep 2.5" it noticeable hurt fuel mileage. Not sure if that is true, just a theory.

It's hard to beat the new Ford pickups. We have run Chevy, Dodge and Ford in our small delivery/company vehicle fleet and frankly we like them all. We sell our trucks between 150k and 200k miles and replace with new and we have been going with Dodge for the last 4 trucks because we have a very good dealer right here in town. I email him what I want, he finds the truck and brings it to my shop. I don't even have to leave my desk. That kind of service is worth something. But if there was a Ford dealer in town, that 6.7 Ford engine is mighty appealing. This is our first truck with auto-leveling and for sure the next truck will have it as well.

That is a lot cheaper for that option then I expected, wish I could afford to option out a new cummins powered truck!

Coobie and Copperhead,

Neither of you are ornery enough to be entertaining with your vitriol, and it just clutters up the thread. You both have a lot to offer, but this is silly. Just my humble opinion....you could ask an admin to clean up the thread and go on with posting valuable stuff.
