The Kubota was made by Maletti in Italy. Much of the landpride tiller is the same as a Sicma. They both are chain drive in most of their models. Just remember that when a MFG has another company make their tillers you have 2 companies living out of the profits and the prices are usually higher. The Farm King is basically the same situation but with their blades being made by Empire Plow.

Hi there,
Do you happen to know where I could find blades for a 48" Maletti? I am having fits trying to locate some. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Jeff

I looked at a lot of tillers before finally deciding on one. I ended up buying one from Iowa Farm Equipment. It definitely wasn't the cheapest but it's American made and very rugged. The people were very nice and the shipping was fast and easy, and not too expensive. I was looking for:
1. Rugged because of all the rock I have
2. Gear driven
3. Slip clutch again because of rock and debris
4. Not a cheap Chinese import

Check out Ag-Maxx at Iowa Farm Equipment.

CCM also seems to be a very good option.

BTW...I originally bought a cheap Chinese import and it lasted about 5' before the gear box exploded.

If it is true that Kubota rebadged Maletti tillers as their own then you should be able to get blades from Kubota.

i have a ford 105A tiller and i've been using it for over 15 years. i till 1 1/2 to 2 acres a year. it has held up fairly well even though it doesn't look like much with all its rock beating and sitting outside. the only thing i dislike is replacing the tines every 4 years or so for what these days would probably cost about $200 and several hours of my time. it is gear driven.

These are the three big dogs on the block as far as I can tell but you'd better not drop your wallet on the way to pick it up. The sad thing is none are made in the good ole USA  I am going to get a tiller in a month or two but I figured I buy the best and cry once.
I really like this model in the "U" 180 series
maschio

Here is the Howard line up. I like the 400 ss model
howardroto

And last but not least is the Kuhn offering. I like the EL 62-180 for my application

If you like the Maschio U series you will love the CCM SR series. The CCM SR series is heavier and will sell for thousands less $$$ than the Moschio U series.

Last year I bought a LandPride reverse rotation tiller. No complaints and it's done everything asked of it. I carefully considered the merits of gear vs chain and concluded that if chain drive was all THAT fragile then the name brand units wouldn't be using it. Nothing will kill a brands reputation faster than being always broken down.

I also used the weight as a general guideline as to how sturdy a unit is...I know, I know, that's a crappy way to do it. But I sure found some serious differences between some, (not all) of the inexpensive models and the so-called 'name' brands...Saw some of the 72 inch tillers that weighed in the 500 lb range, others of the same width were in the 700+ lb range. That observation is worth exactly 1/2 of what you paid for it.

Paid extra for a slip clutch. Having seen what a tiller goes through in rough soil I don't consider it an option, to me it's manditory.
