Tiller tiller sticking

Hey guys,

Anyone have some helpful ideas to keep moist dirt from sticking to tiller blades? I have a 60" KK II and if the ground is moist the dirt will stick to the tines and bog it down.

I asked a simular question a while back on the compact tractor board. I was looking for a way to keep moist dirt/mud from sticking in the back of my backhoe bucket. I got several diferent suggestions, ranging from used motor oil to teflon paint, none of which worked. If you find something that works, I'd like to know. It's a pain to have to stop digging every so often to clean the bucket out with a shovel. It might just be easier to wait for the ground to dry out, as the soil will break up better and be much looser.

Is it running at the proper speed? On my little tiller, if I run it at a lower speed in moist soil, it sticks, but faster speed, it doesn't. Just a suggestion /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Wait until the ground dries out some. If it is sticking could could just be making mud balls with the tiller, rather than breaking the ground up.

I've used a silicone 'water repelant' type of lubrication spray on my boxblade to prevent clay from adhereing... hear that it works excelent on snow/ice.

The rule of thumb I heard was that if you could grab a handful of the dirt and form it into a ball, and it held the ball shape, then it was too damp to till. Once it no longer holds the shape, you're set to go. HTH...
