Tiller on my mind

Just did my taxes. All my equipment has depreciated out. I am thinking about buying a tiller for this year. It seems like about $1700 is the going rate for a 60" tiller. I could live with a 48" if the price was right. What is the best deal out there right now?

$1700 is pretty much the going price for a new 60" tiller. I almost purchased a new one, but ended up putting a wanted ad on Craigslist for one. I got a used King Kutter II, 60" for $950. It was in excellent shape. Just picked it up this past Sunday.

My local craigslist is full of WTB listings for tillers. I think I will struggle to find a used one. Love to have one, but everyone must be hanging on to them around here.

We have the New 5 ft Hawkline by Behlen for $1595 and the 5 ft Tarter for $1695. Both are gear drive and 6 tines per rotor and slip clutch pto. There was a 6 ft Tiller that had to be 15 + years old that sold at a consignment sale here in Ky for $1700. I think the buyer just was not aware of the new prices. Ken Sweet

I've watched sales and ads for a couple years hoping to find a used tiller. It is amazing how many people are selling (or trying to sell) well used tillers for new tiller prices.

About a year ago, I saw a older John Deere 6 ft that had been in a bad fire bring $1200. What are people thinking? Ken Sweet

It must have been a JD 660 made in Germany. I have one and it is like tilling with a Mercedes Benz.

Purchase a tiller that will cover both tire tracks, you will be much happier.:thumbsup:

for my bx2660 i got he a 4ft tiller at tractor supply-same as kingkutter, around 1200.00 its made for the compact tractors. really is like a hot knife thorugh butter!!
