I recently bought a Land Pride RGR 1266 tiller. After using it a total of 6 hours over several days I noticed the oil on the sight glass on the side gear box is milky in color. Is this normal for a tiller?

I don't think so. Mine is Bush Hog brand & no sight glass - just pull the lower bolt & see if oil comes out.... But what comes out looks like new oil - not milky. Milky oil usually makes me think of water in it.....

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Now to try and figure out how water got in the gear box so this doesn’t happen again. Thank you

Water gets into gearboxes due to several things. One, leaving a piece of equipment outside in the elements and rain or snow leaks past the rubber grommets of a gear selector/shifter, and the other most common issue is water can collect due to condensation, especially during major temperature swings. Change the fluid asap and then change it every couple of years or sooner if it gets cloudy earlier. Dutchy
