I need a tiller for my 2520 to do some food plots and approx 3 acres of warm season grasses. I anticipate upgrading to a larger series unit, just not sure when.
What is a good option, w/o going overboard ($)?

If you just need a low cost way for food plots you can do what I did. I first got a Frontier BB2060 box blade with adjustable scarifiers it did a good job ripping up the soil and I planted the food plot with good results. Then after a year I then bought a JD655 Tiller which does a great job. Hope this gives you another option.

Thanks, but definately want a tiller. Just not sure I want to spend 2K on one! Southern Tier? where abouts?

I have a Deere 673 tiller and would recommend the 655 for a 2520. It will do a good job for you.

edit: Just read your post on selling the 2520, I would be hesitant to buy a new tiller if you are trying to sell the tractor. Tillers are moderately expensive and need to be matched to the tractor size. I think I would hold off and buy the right size for the new tractor.

Southern tier Cattaraugus NY area. Get the JD 655 I checked all the others and for the small diff in price I went with the green one resale will be better if needed. The one that they sell at TSC is made fron a company that has just been making tillers for a year. I called the company that makes these to get this info.

I borrowed my neighbors Land Pride 50" today and did a 1/2 acre food plot. Worked like a champ on my 2520. I was very impressed, so much so that I've decided to put off upsizing tractors right now.

5' King Kutter would be my choice. Best bang for the $$ IMO!!!

I'm afraid a 60" tiller is pushing it on the 2520, although the 50" did not seem to tax it at all....

I suspect you can see why some of us recommend the 55" 655 tiller. This would be large enough to get good use out of the 2520 and still allow a little extra width to get up close on edges.
