I have a used 4100. Someone had used a 3/8" bolt for the linkage pivot instead of the stock 10mm pin. I replaced the bolt with a 10mm bolt and that helped a lot. However, my SCV joystick is still not as "tight" as a new one. I suppose that is to be expected, but I was hoping I could find some more slop points and snug them up. It seems the next likely slop is in the 2 pins that run perpendicular to each other that are directly attached to the long operator lever. On one, the lever pivots forward and backward, on the other the lever rotates left or right. It looks like those have a small bushing (not a bearing) that the pins ride in. The other slop would seem to be in the small linkage parts themselves. Not sure there is much I can tweak without some parts replacements. And those JD parts are expensive. So maybe I live with what I have..

Get pins and bushings at a local bearing supply house. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
