Greetings,

I am not saying the throttle lever moves by it self, but I mean the engine RPM will increase all by it self. If you move the throttle lever all the way to wide open very quickly and pull it back the engine RPM will stabilize to normal. There is no patter that I can fix as to what could be causing this. I just bought it and the former owner say it has done it all it's life. If any one could shed so light on this I would be greatly appriciative.

Buy the way this is a one owner/family tractor.

Thanks,

Joel

Does the tractor have a governor? If so I'd look there. Try lubricating the linkage first and then check for smooth operation of the weights, worn binding spool or worn shaft. Keep us posted and good luck.

Is this tractor the 3010 in your profile? If so is it gasoline or diesel? If diesel it's probably the governor in the injection pump is bad.

Hello Folks,

As a follow up, I checked with a local diesel shop and they told me it was probably the advance weight plate broken. They quoted me $600 dollars to overhaul it and said it would take them about 2 days to do it.

I am no injector pump specialist but would want to know if this problem might cause a runaway engine issue if left as is? Hopefully some one more knowledgeable will respond to this.

With many years on an injector pump a rebuild can be worthwhile and allow you many more years of use.

I have never seen a RoosaMaster pump like this cause a runaway engine. It can give that impression as it revs on it's own. The one thing I can say is the longer you run it like this, the more expensive the repair will be. Sometimes the repair can exceed the price of a complete reman pump.
