OK, Here's a new question for you guys with M/F and shuttle shift (I don't know, if the hydro's have it or not): There is a hook, by the clutch pedal, which allows you to push the clutch in and engage this hook, to "hold the clutch in". What is the purpose of this? When/why would it be employed?

I hear that hook is there to keep the clutch disengaged during long periods of storage... The way I understand it, the clutch can rust and stick the plates together if left alone for a long time in a damp environment. I've never used mine.

That's one of the thoughts, which I had, but it seems strange. I've never heard of any other tractor, ever having such an option. ?? I have heard of clutch discs freezing to the flywheel and/or pressure plate.

Got a question regarding my 2009 1529 w/hoe and loader. I have had issues this winter with fuel starvation in the bitter cold. It did it once last year and I pulled the feed from the tank to the filter and gave it a puff from my compressor and I added a good quality fuel conditioning additive. It made it all the way through until a few weeks ago I did the same thingthis year but it would run for 3-5 minutes and die out. I keep my tank full, have a dedicated 5gal fuel can. However my 1529 and her little sister GC1701 sit outside. Today I drained it, used a shop vac with some hand made extensions, I repeatedly added a cup of fresh diesel while vacuuming. This drew out ice, water and what I think is an exceptional amount of debris (grass, bug parts, dirt and grit) I then heated the tank with my heat gun in an attempt to dry the tank and ran the vac one more time. A little history I bought this unit as a repo from AGCO so it is possible this was in the tank from day 1. Has anyone else had this kind of issue?

Can't say I have trouble with crap in the tank. I got a 1531 and it hates the cold. I have had fuel issue and it is really difficult to start when it colder than 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Any thing colder than 15 degrees Fahrenheit and your done. It won't start. I am really disappointed with this tractor, i have had issue after issue. After owning this tractor and a few issues not related to this tractor, I have very little if any use for agco and agco business practices.

I’ve never had an issue starting mine even well below zero. I use the glow plugs for 30 seconds and it always starts right up. I installed a oil pan heater two years ago which helped a lot. I think a coolant heater or block heater would be even better. However, mine is in my un heated garage so temps may be a little warmer than out in the open.

I live in Northern Minnesota and I use my 1529 all winter....it's all I have for snow removal here on the homestead. I use it during sub zero F temps. It has a 500 watt freeze plug heater and I will warm it up for at least 2 to 3 hours when it is zero. Glow plugs for about 15 seconds and it starts right up. I am fortunate that it does get to live in the garage year round although it is not heated. Never had issues with foreign material in the tank. It is a 2014 and has less than 300 hours on it.

This is wax in the diesel that precipate in the filter. You probably don’t have winter diesel. I don’t know where you live but here in Quebec starting in December north of a certain zone, we have diesel with less wax in. Regular additive don’t work but some specific one that lower the cold filter plugging point (CFPP) help.
