I am working on a tooth paste for cats.... just having a difficult time finding the correct ingredients for the flavor. It is going to be mouse flavored! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

This is Bruno -- My 4.5 pound best friend. If I am around, he will be beside me. I have had a lot of dogs, but never on as faithful as this guy. He will not back down from anything including a big Rattle Snake a couple of years ago. We never did see the snake, but judging from the fang wounds it was big enough to put Bruno's whole nose in his mouth. The snake also got my wife's little teddy bear dog. Both recovered but were pretty sick puppies for a couple of days.

I love the ears on this dog. Looks like he's ready to take off.

My wife was recently ill, and three of our five goldens (as well as two of three cats) refused to leave her alone! Check it out!

Rescues are the way to go! No more faithful companion than a dog finding love after a crummy life! Here are four of my five in the back of my truck. They never ride in the back, and never have, so I'm not sure why a pickup bed is so attractive to them. But drop that tailgate and in a heartbeat all four are inside...while poor Harley with his bad knees circles the truck barking his fool head off!

All four of these goldens are rescues, and all four help us in the rehabilitation of abused goldens. Pete

Whenever they are bad I call them dogs.
I call them dogs most of the time.

I couldn't agree more with supporting rescues or animal shelters. Those are the only places I will get a pet. I can see that all of your pets have a "hard life". So do mine. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Very nice. They look strong.

Strong? Yes. Lazy? Even more so. How Cornelius Van Rooyen ever got these Ridgebacks to hunt lions, I'll never know.

A word on doggie health. Just remember, our canine friends don't speak our language, and they're pretty darn stoic, so pay attention to when they start acting a little sluggish, goofy, etc. Almost 3 years ago, Grandma Rage suddenly became extremely lethargic (didn't even want a biscuit) and could barely walk. We rushed her to the Doggie ER and discovered she had a giant mass on her spleen -- the prognosis wasn't good -- 9 year old dog with cancer. We okayed the surgery to take out her spleen and the mass, and she's now still goin' strong (not bad for a 12 year old Ridgeback). The extra time we're still enjoying with her is priceless (she's such a sweety -- her full name is Rage of Angels).

Last year, Grandpa Bert started licking his left front paw ALOT. Checked it out and discovered he had a mass growing on one of his toes. After a biopsy, we found out it was a very aggressive form of cancer. Unfortunately, the vet had to remove the toe (check out his pic -- only 3 toes on that paw). Bottom line -- we still have our 10 year old grandpa who acts more like a brat puppy than a grandparent. Again, priceless. People ask what happened to his toe and I tell 'em that ya can't eat a dog that good all at once. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif Sure do get some funny looks after that comment. Thanks, Andy, for starting this thread.

Our Rotty/Doberman "Otto" had knee surgery this past winter. He would get a painful stiffness in his hind end after exersize & it took less & less exersize for it to happen. $500 at a specialist (we thought it was possibly back related) in Portland Maine & we're told, "I think it's his leg but, nothing much show's up on the x-rays, take him to this place in Mass. for a MRI". $1400 later we're told "I think it's his knee". Well ,it was & $3000 later at a excellent clinic in Dover, NH he's doing great. Recovery was very long, but it's good to see him back as his old self.
