This must be my \"bay back\" for getting the bota

edit : make that "bay back" "Pay back"

My wife bought
75 bags of mulch (5.5 yards +-) (all came to the house in one load on my truck)
50 steping big stones (all came to the house in one load on my truck)
220 16 inch conc edgers (yet to be picked up. after work toady maybe 3 or 4 trips)
a water garden thingy (no power to where she wants that)
+ some "other stuff" (I don't know wath that means but it can't be good)
Sunday is my kids 5th birthday party and she wants to know how much "I" can get done before everyone gets there

Re: This must be my \"bay back\" for getting the bota

My wife wanted me to build a playhouse for my daughter.

She figured it would take a weekend or two.

It took 3 - 10 hour days just to frame it and get plywood on the roof, and that was with a "helper" who used to be a general contractor and actually knew how build things! It took almost a year to get to the drywall stages. Granted there were several weeks in a row where the thing sat untouched, and I didn't work on in when the snow was flying.

But I think my wife finally realizes that everything takes MUCH longer to do than she thinks. But I might be wrong, she might not realize that. Heck, we've only been married 19 years, it may take a few more before she realizes that I am not Superman.

Good luck with your wife & your projects. And take some Aleve before you even start the work, I suspect you will need it!

I would tell her I could pick up the cake and blow up the balloons and that would be about it /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif. Seriously, it sounds like a couple of weekends of work staring you in the face. Hope you get to use that tractor for at least some of what lies ahead /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

Did she have a "Genie in a Bottle" delivered also? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Ah the playhouse for the daughter. My wife thought it would be a good idea to build my daughter one. I was planning on a tree house type thing and my wife had something different in mind. Needless to say a month later the playhouse was finished complete with insulated double hung windows (I used to work at a window place and they had small windows they used as samples), insulation in the walls, electric, phone and cable. I was figuring spending maybe $400 and ended up with quite a bit more than that. I found out the real reason for the play house when one winter I came home and found the wife in it reading a book with a heater on while my daughter was out playing in the snow!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
As far as all that mulch and the stones, you better get started and go buy some flood lights so you can work through the night!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: This must be my \"bay back\" for getting the bota

A birthday? We did a fun one for our sons 6th birthday. I went out and scraped away some dirt about 8'x8'x1' deep. We put some sand and stuff in. Then, we hid all kinds of dinosaur toys, some reall fossils, and the parts to a wooden Tyranosauras model in there.

Nobody knew about it. I got the kids around, and went into this talk about using the tractor, and finding fossils. They went for it and had a blast!

LOL, with simple space heater we can keep the playhouse at 68 degrees when there is a foot of snow on the ground and a howling winter wind!!! I did NOT run cable or telephone down there. There is a phone line at the pool house.

Re: This must be my \"bay back\" for getting the bota

Well I (and a buddy) got about 2/3's of it done before the party. All the beds around the house so she was happy. Now I can somewhat take my time on the others.

BTW a box blahe and a sprinkle head don't mix...You only know you got it when the wife starts tell you off for it /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
