That is the real average. Miles on the odometer vs hours ran. They fleet of three vehicles is 36 to 39 mph.

My office is 55 miles away. My marina is about 70. I have very few stops for either. Work for example has 3 possible stop lights and 2 stop signs. There is not a stop light within 7 miles of my home. My average is just that, mine. If i lived in downtown Orlando it would be a stretch to get 15 mph.

Fair enough. But I think you would certainly be very high up in 'miles covered per hour' category. It would be nice to know what a typical suburban average would be.

Mine comes in at about 30..Mixed interstate and back roads...Takes me roughly an hour to traverse the 35 miles to work each way..30 seems about right on average for me.

Yea, I travel to work in right at a hour.

Interesting enough the 30 mph works out for many. 100 hour intervals for oil changes on boats, tractors, ect works out to 3000 miles. Kinda makes sense.

Actually it's a bogus report. What they did was do a search for all used car listings for vehicles with over 200k miles on them. I think they looked at 1981 and newer vehicles. One would expect that cars with that kind of mileage will be handed down vs sold so they will not show up. OTOH pickups with 200k miles are quite commonly bought for farm use and for plow trucks. One would also expect that inexpensive economy cars would be less likely to repaired after reaching that kind of mileage.

The fact is almost every car or pickup sold today is capable of making it to 200k. Following the proper maintenance schedule does wonders. A much more important study would be a total cost of repairs (not routine maintenance) needed to get the vehicle to 200k.

I'd fully expect any new car I bought in the last ten years to get 200k.

My 91 & 97 Chevy 5.7 4x4 1/2 tons both went 200k with the factory drivetrains and front suspensions...Just maintenance and a fuel pump in each at around 150k....Been trading them off generally at 100k nowadays.

So many on the (list) are based on vehicles that people are trying to sell not keep? ...

I would find a list of 200k mile vehicles that owners still have and want to keep to be more telling.

I was wondering why Volvos weren't mentioned ( Know of some between 200 and 400 k miles) and the owners would gift them to family members before selling.

Here's a quote: "To find the vehicles mostly likely to reach that milestone, iSeeCars, which helps shoppers find good deals on used cars, analyzed listings for 30 million used vehicles from the past year"

The original study was done to inform people looking to buy a used vehicle with more than 200k miles on it. The media twisted it to make it sound like the vehicles listed were at the top of the list of vehicles that made it to 200k. Most Volvo owners I know either have brand new ones or specifically look for older ones with 150k miles so they can drive them into the ground (long past 200k).
