Whirlpool is like those store-brand tractors that use multiple manufacturers but the same badging. Never really know what you're going to get.

I've had great luck with both Samsung and LG.
I'll second this.

I'm never buying anything with the name Jennair or Kitchenaid on it again. Last few products turned out to be Chinese made trash that was badged with their names. You couldn't even find the product on their websites when I went there to complain. I expected quality and didn't even get decent operations or durability.

If you go through an appliance store and open all of the doors you'll find a lot of "different" manufacturers with identical shelving/drawers/etc. Many brands made by the same outfit with little to distingush them beyond the badge. These so called American brands are all just licensed out to who ever can produce it them the cheapest and most profitable.

The brands to trust nowadays seem to be the ones like LG, Samsung, Bosch and a handful of others.

I remember when Dad brought home a chest freezer from the drugstore after the new owner closed the soda fountain. It was a small thing designed to hold 3 five gallon ice cream containers (chocolate, vanilla and strawberry) It was built in the '30's by Frigidaire and was belt driven and noisy. Mom always complained that #%^$!!! thing froze stuff so hard it took forever to thaw.

Yeah, those days are gone.

Lol did something similar to a newer pile of junk home good after ordering and replacing a few parts continuously, except it involved a steel track skid loader, a 12 gauge shot gun, a 1/2 gallon of gas and four letter words. The destruction of my headache was worth every minute.
hahaha :) I feel your pain

They don’t make anything here.

When the raw materials are mined from China, melted down & molded in China, then stamped out in China, it’s China xxxx ! Where the parts & components are assembled is really irrelevant. It all comes down to the quality of the materials…of course they have to be assembled properly, but testing & QC are things of the past and there are no QC books or chapters in China..
This lady sure doesn't have a Chinese accent.

Did you know that GE got out of the appliance business several years ago? Certainly not the company or brand we grew up with.

GE Appliances was owned by General Electric until 2016, and it was previously known as GE Appliances & Lighting and GE Consumer & Industrial. Haier has the right to use the GE brand name until 2056. Haier owns approximately 90% of the consumers brand stuff now.

My next victims of complete satisfying destruction will be a whirlpool branded stove/ oven that I had to disconnect the self clean and broiler feature to make it work again. It has more recently started to overcook and burn all baked goods, a whirlpool brand under cabinet microwave that the hinges are falling off, and a GE brand stove/oven at my cabin which everytime you turned the burners on you could hear it arcing in the dials, I've cleaned all contacts and replaced 4 new ones at over 30 a piece just waiting for them to fail again. All appliances are less than ten years old.

Do not be fooled by residential companies the Freon r22 in your case was not banned. They just quit making it in this country because of buerocratic red tape going back to I believe 1994 and the Montreal protocol. It is extremely expensive to purchase but readily available. I purchased 4 30 pound jugs yesterday for $1600 each
Christ, for that price I'm glad I got a new AC.

I'm not a HVAC guy and I'm sure the stuff is expensive. One tech that came out said he had some but it was expensive.

I would ck that statement on “made in USA”? It’s prob assembled here, but all of the parts are made in crapsville China inc. You might even want to ascertain where the raw materials originated?
No schtick, Sherlock. Do you honestly believe that any "Made in USA" items were completely made here, from the ore in the ground to the copper in the windings?

Thanks for the video.

Is there any way to determine where the “sheet metal” and all of the others parts were made? Assembled in USA doesn’t do me any justice if the compressor, computer boards and all the electronics were made in “shin-na”.

It’s still a pig no matter where the lipstick is applied!

It’s not a tractor, but it’s more than worth mentioning.

I just had a 2020 almost brand new whirlpool fridge ice maker go bad…no more whirlpools ever again.

During my rant, l just learned that my 94 yr old uncle has a wedding gift that is still working. It’s a 72 yr old Sears & Roebuck Coldspot freezer that is still cranking out the cold temps. Can you believe it??? I’ve enclosed the ser & model #’s so you can look up the dates. It’s been plugged in the whole time, minus 3 move times…what a beast !!!
I replaced a functioning fridge a couple of summers ago because it was sucking down $30.00 of power a month. My appliance lady, knowing me, told me to not spend money on a new fridge because the variable speed compressors are always running, so no matter how much money you spend, in 10-12 years the thing will die. My new fridge really did save me $25-30 a month on power so has paid for itself.
