I just Purchased a Mahindra 2638. Before i really getting to use it. I had the Dealer add third function and rear remote. Unlike everything else I’ve ever operated, I can only do one function at a time with loader. Can’t lift and curl loader at the same time. Is this how this tractor works before the add or did the add cause this?

Are you trying to fully lift and curl at the same time? or are you trying to feather the controls?

Likely has nothing to do with what the dealer installed....because third function and remotes are down stream of the loader valve. But even if they weren't they are open center valves....and not using them is like them not being there at all.

Did you test drive this model before buying it? Try out the loader valve in the parking lot before?

Is it actually a third function or a diverter valve? If the latter, you can only do one at a time.

It’s a Third Function. Found the problem, shortly after it was installed I was trying it at idle and a cold tractor. This morning I let the tractor warm up first than idle up and it works as it should.

It's common on small tractors for the FEL to only do one function at a time. It's in the valving.

The 3rd function is another discussion. Again, in small tractors it's common for them to not have enough hydraulic flow to do more than one thing at a time.

So now you can lift, curl and 3rd function at the same time?

Last year I bought The Mahindra 1635. After 3 months the front right wheel snapped off where the axle housing connects to the Hub housing. Finally after waiting on parts that took for ever to get, once fixed I traded it in on this 2638. This is what I should have bought the first time around. I see dealers making all these videos up selling the 1635 over the 2638. No Way 1635 is a better tractor. It’s good if you are cutting grass and dragging a box blade to fix a driveway, but other than that No. thanks for the help

Not sure yet on the Third function while lifting & curling bucket. I have purchased a grapple yet. The problem I was having was after the install I couldn’t lift & curl at the same time. But like I said, that was due to a cold tractor at idle. I’m sure once put a grapple things will change. I was more concerned of just my lift & curl.
Waiting on a Ag auction soon to come up to find a Grapple

Used Grapples are hard to find. I sure wouldn't sell mine. Hopefully you can find one.

Understand that your tractor has a maximum flow capacity on the hydraulics. Using one function, such as "lift", it will produce a certain speed. Add "curl" while lifting and the speed will slow because it's being split for two functions. Add 3rd function (if you have true 3rd function) while lifting and curling and the speed will slow again because it's now being split for three functions.

It's common on smaller tractors that they will not produce enough flow to effectively run all three at once. Nothing you can do about that issue.

Some loader valves, like the one on my Branson, dump all flow to the tank when any spool is operated. This makes the bucket dump quickly and the loader drop fast when you lower it. It also means that any valve plumbed after the loader, on it's power beyond, will see no flow when the loader is operated. So you can't operate a 3rd function or a rear remote or the 3pt hitch while operating the loader.
