No bickering here. We're getting a bit confusing in regards to the OP's situation. He definitely had a failed coupler.

I don't recall saying the pump or valve were the problem? If I did, I was mistaken.

Even if the valve only allows a teaspoon per minute it still has no effect on pressure, just flow. Eventually at that rate the need will be met and the pressure will equal the relief valve setting. Another way to think of it, the valve controls speed not power.

In the OP's case the failed coupler would not allow any pressure.
