Good morning, I live in upstate Ny and am thinking of trading in my 4310 for a larger tractor, in HP and weight. I know I should post pictures, but I need a general guide before the dealer starts beating me up, this is what I have:
2003, 4310, 2300 hrs, woods loader, woods ground breaker back hoe (curved type, frame mount ) . tractor is E-hydro, mid & rear pto, cruise, tilt, couple other switches I have never used, all electronics work good, tractor starts as good as a car. This is what it needs: new seat, 1 rear light broken, front wheel seal seeping, hood has small crack, tires are okay, rears are cut but do not leak, they are also loaded. I am sure I am missing something and am sure the dealer will find it. I am looking at a Kubota L5030 or a NH Tc-45 TLB, 15k for the kubota or 29k for the NH ..I know, I am switching brands, this is what is local..Thanks.

Are you looking for opinions on what you are looking at or opinions on what your 4310 will garner on trade.

What do you need to do that the 4310 will not do?

I am looking for what the tractor should bring in a trade. The 4310 is too light, I routinely lift 1000 lb round bales of hay and without weight in the back, it gets very front heavy, even with loaded tires, it also doesn't have the height reach with the loader that I need, we've expanded our farm since I purchased it and now need something larger. I was looking at the Kubota L5030, 1000lbs heavier, 20 more hp. The NH is 12k more, which is kind of out of my range, the dealer is coming tomorrow to look my trade over. I was just wondering what to expect...

You have quite a few hours on it. I would be interested to find out what you get for it too. It is hard to determine the amount that the 2300 hrs of time will knock it down. I think if you want to, you could sell the backhoe by itself and then sell the tractor with the loader. If the backhoe is very well used, it would be worth about 40-50% of new depending on shape. If still shiny, excellent hoses, no leaks etc, it should bring about 70-80% of new. A new seat is about $100 or so.

The tractor with loader could fetch up to $10-12K I'm guessing. Without seeing it and the hours are a bit higher than most small tract owners would put on it in 5 years. My 2002 only has about 300 hours. Barely broke in.

The thing to remember is, the dealer has to turn a profit and so they will probably offer 20% less than I'm mentioning. If you are buying another used tractor from them, they might offer to consignment sell yours. Just put a deposit down on what you want to hold it and wait until yours sells.

Thanks for the input. The backhoe was new last year so has few hours on it. The tractor had 2000 hours when i bought it, never had a loader on it and the 3 pt was never used, supposedly it was used at a fresh water marina to move boats? I know I will probably take a beating when trading it in, kind of like trading in a car, its never worth what you think. But, its getting hairy moving round bales, I move 5 -6 every other day. I will update you on what the dealer offers tomorrow, thanks again.

Your trade-in value at JD may be higher than at the competitors unless you catch someone with a competitive sale going on. How far away is your nearest JD dealer?

Have you considered another newer, larger, but used unit with a lot less hours on it?

Most I have been offered is 12500 thru my local JD dealer towards a newer much better machine, at least in the dealers eyes. I ended up selling for 15k which is what the Kubota costs, but without the Backhoe. So now I have a larger tractor, heavier, more hp but without the BH....maybe I can find the instructions for my shovel...Thanks for the input.
