Thinking of Purchasing Ford F-150 - Some Questions

Agreed, my numbers are right in line with Diamond's dad.

Yea, my 08 Titan, which are known for bad MPG ratings averages about 14.5mpg and my old 03 Hemi 2500 would do about 12mpg.

You have some serious issues with your truck, the parking brake is on, or someone is racing everyone from every stop light.

my last avg. was 15.9. I do not race. It's just getting what it's rated. 15/16 in town and 20/21 on the hwy.

This is what I've been hearing for average fuel mileage as well, good but nothing special.
Of course those in flat states only driving to church and back may think their on-board computer is right telling them they're getting 21+ average mpg's but that helps them justify the purchase.

All fuel is hand calculated and the dash thing is never off more than 1%.

Never off by more than 1%?
I think I found why you think he's getting better fuel mileage, someone's not calculating right. Those numbers from the dash are never that close...

What??? We are getting 13 mpg around town. We just barely break 14 on the highway. No towing or payload...

I love how there must be something wrong with his truck because they're seeing average fuel mileage.

So what about those who OWN Ecoboost Ford trucks complaining about "average" fuel mileage, are they wearing "Ram colored glasses" too?
Well they will be soon.

As you've heard Your mileage may vary. Different EB will not get as good as others but we can count on you to put in your digs against anything but Ram.
Not sure why you'd be subscribed to this thread anyways. ;)

You need to read again. 13/14 MPG is not average mileage for his truck. Something is wrong if that is what he is getting.

Here is what I have gotten with my 2wd super crew ecoboost 3.72 rear vs a 2001 dodge Dakota 2wd quadcab with a wimpy 4.7 liter. Similar driving habbits. The ford has yet to be more that 30 miles from home and I tow a trailer about 1-2 days per week.

My hand calculations have never been more than .2 MPG different than the computer and usually it is spot on or .1 MPG different so diamond pilots 1% is correct. Maybe inaccurate computers are just a dodge trait.

2.45 MPG OR 18.5 % BETTER IN MY ECOBOOST THAN THE SMALLER DODGE.

Jeff

Actually, YOU need to read it again.
He said his average was 15.9 mpg not "13/14". The 13 mpg was in a 4x4 not a 2wd like yours.

Wow, a whole 2.5 mpg more than an 11 yr old V8 truck which probably had 100k more miles on it too!

All it took was millions in unproven technology and a special drivetrain designed to slip since the Ecoboost can't make low end power. Still unimpressed...

Any of the current big V8's make the same or more power with comparable fuel mileage and simple designs.

You don't even have 4WD and only average 15 mpg. What a joke!

On a side note, that "wimpy" V8 4.7l Dakota made 230 hp vs Ford's V8 4.6l making 220hp and the 5.4l making 250hp.

Something does not sound right. Although, those numbers are from the on-board computer. Not hand calculated...

Maybe, like a diesel, the mpg gets better as the motor breaks in. If not, bring it back for service. Those numbers sound bad, even for today's V8s and especially for the eb engine.

Gotta say I enjoy the heck out of the debates when Dmace gets going!! DP is definitely a Ford guy, and Dmace is a Dodge dude. Both of them make some good points and both tilt the scales a bit, but great entertainment!

After lookin for a new 1/2 ton PU this spring , doing a bunch of research, talkin to dealers, test drives etc, I think ol' Dmace is onto something about the eco being nothing exceptional. If I would have bought a Ford, it would have been the 5.0.

Keep it up Dmace, I' with ya!
