Thinking about trading M5040

It wasnt a planned thing, just have gotten way more land lately. The tractor has nothing but alittle mud on tires,I will wash it,take it to dealer and pick up my new one(all hauling on me). Was just saying alright you got me when I bought new, just give me 21 for tractor make cple hundred(again)(I will lose cple thousand),and then get me on the next new one,not on all 3....

Life can sure through you a curve now and then; hope things work out for you.

I think that any dealer that is not going to treat you fairly in this situation is not a dealer worth dealing with in my book.

A good dealer treats a customer well enough so that they won't even think about going elsewhere when it comes time for the next tractor.

I bought my L3400 for $22500 CDN (prices here are high) 5 years ago. These days they sell them for $20000 CDN (prices have gone down to compete with US selling prices). The dealer that I purchased from is not selling Kubotas any more (thank goodness - they were terrible!).

To trade my L3400 with 300 hours and some gizmos I had added to it (sunshade, lights, remots) I went to a couple local dealers. I got an offer of $14500 from one and an offer of $17000 from another without blinking. He said it was a popular model and he was sure he would have no problem selling it as he sells a number of them per year.

I think there are more than enough people that are sensible enough to buy a practically brand new tractor with a couple hundred hours for a a few K less than the price of the new. The dealer should be able to move it quickly and offer you basically no less than $3000 less the cash selling price of brand new IMHO. He gets to move a brand new unit and will likely easily find someone who has the sense to save a few thousand dollars on a practically brand new machine.

I would shop around at other dealers - Kubota and non Kubota.

No not farm country(didnt buy from them),but did talk to someone else today in Bryan and they are going to give me 3GRAND more in trade than the dealer I purchased it from new. But I can tell you the dealer isnt Orange....

Well heres the numbers dealer i bought new from 22,500 on trade
And the other 25,900 on trade
And I no they are not uping the price on tractor and showing more for trade,I know that game...

8 grand is a heck of a hit for a tractor that young. I would definitely try to sell it yourself first.

I was only offered $2,500 for my 14 year old JD870 as a trade in from the same JD dealer i bought it from. I sold it myself for $10,500 on craigslist.

And i bought the new one from someone else.

I can totally see the dealers not wanting to deal with used equipment, but 160 hours and 8 months. hes taking 1,000 per month of use.

Thats way too much of a hit.

That being said, i have been told that you can buy a new 2011 F350 and lose $10,000 the minute you drive it off the lot, so who really knows.

I realize that you purchased more land. Can you explain what you are unable to do with the 50 hp Kubota that necessitates a 35hp increase?

15ft Batwing(to keep up with mowing),also going to cab(allergies to bad/sinus infections) was just going to use the smaller tractor, easier to haul around, but can not get by with it anymore,I also have full-time job other than cattle operation. 7040 stays home

Maybe this will help. I work 8 days on 6off,I feed for another ranch Monday threw thursday when I get off my regular job,I also help take care my parents Ranch, then I also have my own land and cattle. And help my neighbors one has 1500ac.and other has just over 50ac. Then there are the folks that call me up to move hay, shred, etc. I also have 300gal sprayer, disc, tiller, drag that folks call for(foreman is nickname father-in-law gave me cause,I take care of so many places not just my own).

if it was just to get a cab id get an aftermarket solid cab with heat and air... would be less than the 8,000 hit.

Now if you need more HP, thata another matter.
