As far as Prius Savings????

I tried a simple Calc.

4*(100000/30) - 4*(100000/45)

$4 Gas
100,000 Miles
30 vs 45 MPG.

And it comes up with a savings of $4,444

If, of course, you compare it to a vehicle that gets 20 MPG, the savings jumps to $11,111, which is a pretty penny.

Plus, it is less fuel purchased from overseas, and less cashing going to people who hate us.

You saying a non hybrid prius gets 30 mpg? Didn't know they even made one. You gotta compare the same vehicle, or it's an invalid comparison. What vehicle gets 15 mpg better as a hybrid compared to it's non hybrid model? The hybrids I compared, civics and accords, were closer to 1-5 mpg at most better for the hybrid. My family can't fit in a prius, nor can you compare it to the non hybrid model since it doesn't exist. I was getting 36 mpg with my last manual accord, which was only 1 mpg less than the hybrid which costs over $10K more at the time. Guess why they quit making the hybrid accord.

Buckeye, Thats the problem with a Prius you cannot compare it with a non-hybrid Prius. So lets compare it to the other car I was going to buy - a Lexus, now let's talk about how much I saved - about 15K the first day plus 11K in gas on the first 100k miles - hey it's almost like my next Prius is FREE!:D The math gets kind of------.

Iv'e looked at other hybrids and their gasoline twins and cannot ever justify those hybrids even with ----- math.
