So they are going to trade the JD in on a new machine, like it was the tractor's fault somehow?

Maybe the will get one of those fancy new models that auto-parks itself on flat land, then drops the bucket and 3PH, puts the machine in gear, sets the brakes, and spits the key toward the nearest sober adult.

:D :D Your point's well taken, and I know it doesn't necessarily sound logical, but it doesn't surprise me that they'd want to trade tractors. The one they have will always have bad memories for them, whether logical or not. I guess it's a bit along the same lines as people moving if or when their home is burglarized. You might be surprised at the number of people who will immediately start looking for a new home and trying to sell the old one if theirs is ever the victim of a burglary. And of course livestock owners will get rid of an animal, such as a cow or horse, that injures a family member, even if the injury was accidental on the part of the animal. Just human nature, I guess, to want to get rid of something that reminds them of something bad.

Hilarious! "...nearest sober adult." What a hoot.

I guess I can understand the emotional part of the tractor deal, but I hope they ALSO learn to park it properly and watch their kid when "playing" on a tractor. I also thought it was funny that the article said the kid accidentally knocked it IN gear. Hope that reporter isn't writing tractor manuals too.

Good points, Bird. Since I am emotionally detached, I didn't see the significance that particular tractor might have for them after the accident. You are a good man to have around, my feathered friend.

Here's hoping there's no permanent damage to either the boy or anyone else, in any manner.
