These stupid LIGHTS

On my Kobelco SK 015 excavator----The charging light goes off & on---I have checked ( with a 100 amp. battery load & charging system tester ) when the light was on-----the tester shows the system is charging--
Also the fuel water filter light stays on all the time.
Question---could the ignition switch be hooked up wrong causing this problem. I believe the man I bought it from installed a new switch connecting the red to the black terminal & black to red----that's the way I found it when I replaced a new switch---so that's the way I installed a new one.
Any thoughts on this appreciated.

Put a voltmeter across the battery with it off and see the voltage. Then start it up and watch the voltage see whether it goes up or down or flucuates a lot. Fuel water light could be a bad sensor.
