I wonder sometimes, on this forum, I see a 20 page long thread on "what brand of chainsaw should I buy?", or "what do I need to know about ZTR's?", then, 10 minutes later, see another thread on the exact same subject started by someone who only has one post.

Am I being naive or paranoid if I wonder if such a thread is being started by a bot?
Likely. But not necessarily in every case. Coming into this site for the first time can be confusing. And the site's search feature isn't intuitive. It takes some time here to understand the 'culture' on a specific topic when you know nothing about it. BTDT!

The bot - or spam - stuff I've noticed seems to have found a keyword, likely in a Google search, that it responds to. In a useless and irrelevant way. Asserting something. In contrast to the ignorant post typical of a newbie.

Search tool is very useful in finding information, but underutilized.

You are in tittle to your opinion and I would even add it's a valid one but personally as long as its stated (copy and paste from AI) I don't see the arm in it, that way you could simply not read that response but it can also add value for some
Too bad AI cannot do spell correction for your comments...

I know what you mean about the search function, and I certainly didn't mean any offense to any newcomers, and was reluctant to even make that post for fear of offending someone. It just seems like a little too much of a coincidence that, literally, right after a 40 page thread on stump grinders starts to wind down, someone with a single post starts another one.

Heck, it doesn't even bother me, I love threads on chippers and grinders, bring 'em on, the more the merrier. (y)
