Still got mine, from the 70s.

As a kid my dad bought me a closed face spinning reel. I think it was a Zebco. It was a nightmare - I could never keep it from tangling the line. My next reel was open face - somewhat better. At least I didn't have to unscrew the closed face to undo my tangles.

I Have several of those reels, including a couple of old 1930's/40's vintage casting reels. I guess I should get them all out and take some pics. I'll think about that after I go vote.
