Tractor
Kubota 7500
Last Saturday I had a Woods 6500 backhoe delivered for my Kubota 7500. So yesterday I called in "sick" to get some seat time with the new toy. I spent the whole day doing jobs around the house with great success (even the wife concured).
After dinner the battle started! How can you take off from work and spend no time with me? Do I really need to answer
that /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif She is JEALOUS of the tractor /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif by her own words. Any comments?

I'd comment, but I've got to be careful what I say - the walls have ears...

My wife is jealous of my tractor, too. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
She doesn't want to drive it, though. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Oh well, more seat time for me! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Evidentially she's feeling a little neglected. Maybe dinner out and a movie of her choice will earn you a little more seat time. Course when she comes back home for the evening you better not still be on that tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Bad situation. I had the same problem. It's how you sell the project. You can say, "I am doing this for you!"

I usually take the kids outside with me and give her a quiet house. Then my wife doesn't care what I am doing as long as she has some peace and quiet. Of course, I invite my brother over so one of us always has an eye on the kids while the other operates the tractor. Then I order pizza that night so there is no cooking, and everybody is happy!

She was all for the tractor in the beginning. How things have changed! I bought it in November '03 and only 28hrs of seat time. I think she owes me /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

What's her problem.....as long as you are at home and doing something constructive she should be happy. My spouse is grateful I am home, even if I am playing with my JD, at least she knows I am not sitting in a bar or gambling, or trying to pick up another woman.

But to be truthful, owning my JD keeps me so broke I couldn't afford those vices even if I wanted to. Don't tell !!!

Well, next time you use the tractor and she is at home, go in the house, pack a picnic lunch, grab a blanket, a bottle of wine or beer and have her ride in the FEL sitting on the blanket, drinking her drink and eating her lunch! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Guys, think that will solve the problem?? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I bet her face will look like this: /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Send her over here, she can commiserate with me, while my wife uses my tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I hear what you are saying!!

It's all about attention. I've tried to figure it out but always come up with a different answer. The only consistant piece is if I am working on a project she wants to see acomplished and spend all day on it I am a hero.

However, when I spend a day on a project I want to see accomplished I am a heel. At my place at least there are always several projects to choose from, so it's easier to start a new one sometimes.

One of my favorite tasks is to gather the fire wood, we have only wood heat so it's not something you can put off. Wife doesn't like the situation because it takes my time away from her.

Last year I thought I found a solution get up a 5:00 am head out to the woodlot cut a trailer load 1/2 cord and come home just about breakfast time and have the rest of the day for other things. Well it almost worked some of the time.

My situation is complicated by the fact that the wife has reached those mid-life years where there is a chemical thing going on so what worked once may not be right the second time.

Bottom line is work out a plan where she gets some of you attention and the tractor gets some of your attention. Just remember what feeds you and keeps you warm at night. It is a fine balancing act and many have fallen from not being careful. Wife and I celebrated 30 years of wedded bliss this year.

Sounds like you need to get caught doing something good. Next time she leaves the house for any length of time, get out the vacuum cleaner and plug it in. Sit back and watch a game or two but keep a close eye on the driveway. As soon as you see her pull in, jump up and get that vacuum going. (But don't forget to turn the game off.) When she asks what you are doing, just say "lending a helping hand." Works everytime for me... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Frank, you hit the nail on the head, she just wanted me to be around with her, not having fun (but still doing work) on the tractor. By the way, she fill up three garbage cans filled with, dirt, stones ect.... that needed to be moved. I said "they look pretty heavy" she just smiled and said "get the tractor"
I love a Happy Ending.
