The feeder is about 10 feet outside the dinning room window. It gets
regular visits from our avian friends an occasionally a fuzzy tailed rat will
attempt a raid but first time for a turkey this close to the house.

She seem to favors one leg so that may explain why she's not hanging
with the group. I seen a group of 25 or 30 go through earlier...

After she left I refilled the feeder an dumped a full coffee can of shelled corn
incase she comes back...

Awesome photo Gunfighter. I love it when the birds get that close. I wonder if it will come back? G

Nice photo, Richard. I've found that turkeys seem to hang around for a few days and then they disappear for weeks before coming back. It's like they migrate slowly around a large area and only repeat their steps in a cycle of several weeks or months. If that hen is disabled, she may end up being in the food chain for some other critter. Hanging away from the flock is a bad sign. If she can find food at your feeder, you may have her come back often for a few days. Hope so... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks, I was surprise how well the picture turned out since it was shot
through a double pane window an screen..
Yes, this one did come back early this morning an again just before sun set.
We put out some extra punkin seed an shelled corn, she had a feast...
We'll keep putting out extra feed as long as she keeps coming back

Yours is a very accurate description of how a big flock of turkeys migrate
when foraging for food. But for some reason you'll occasionally find them
in small groups, don't know if their kicked out of the flock or what happens..
Several years ago with had six that hung around most of the summer and
last year there was three. They don't have anything to do with the flock
when it comes through... There is no fighting but the small group will go to
the side an stay out of the flocks way, there is no mingling...
