The truth about Arched Steel Buildings...

how did you attach wooden front wall to arch? I have same size building and have a used 12x12 steel roll up door to frame for. I am no carpenter but would guess I need a 12 in header. Why is it so hard to find people who will share their experience freely on these buildings ?

MotorSeven,

I know this is an old post, but I came across it looking for information on arched buildings. We've ordered one that should be delivered to mid-Michigan in mid-November. Hubby ordered from SteelMaster, and man are they pushy about add-ons!

A couple questions, if you have time.

Would you build one again? What would you do differently? Intended use is a garage, and storage for the moment, and eventually a workshop.

Where do you suggest I look for the base plates? SteelMaster quoted $4996 for base plates for the 30x30 building. We only paid $12,500 for the building, all in. Having a concrete pad poured; (I did see your recommendation to use sill seal between the galvalume and the concrete), and am trying to determine whether to spend the extra money on the base plates or on the concrete.

Thank you!

You may find a local fabricator/welder would be able to make the base plates much cheaper than SteelMaster. Worth a shot.

I don't know anything about arched buildings. Sorry.
