... an old house.

The wife heard "squeaking" while at the farm one night.
No problem. I had thought I knew what it was.

Silly me.

Here is one of the boys getting some gatorade.

Three boys and one girl.

I get them back in a few months, health stock... you know!

And I thought this was going to be a story on dry rot. Remodeling, I know why it costs so much! It's a pain in the BUM! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I have torn down and remodeled several old buildings. Never found anything to amount to anything. The ones I remodeled I always left empty a beer can or two in the cavities just so the guy who does tear it down has something to find...weelll, also to get rid of the empty.

I raised 2 squirrels that had gotten blown out of a tree from a tornado that ripped by/over my parents house. It was a lot of fun.. def. amazing the speed they can change directions when being chased by your dog in the house. We named them "Bruiser" & "Poo".. lot's of good memories.

We found them outside by following the squeaking noise.. only took a leaf to make them invisible.

Are you feeding them orphan milk? If you could build a temp nest where the mother could find them.. they'd be okay.

I even made channel 4 news.. so much for the 75 trees down in the yard. One man said.. if you didn't have all those trees.. you wouldn't have a house. It was just my Dad & I at home.. I was smoking a cig. on the front porch.. my Dad said.. better come in before you get wet.. as soon as I stepped in the house.. it went from rain to total white-out visibility.. then we heard a big bang.. which ended up being a tree slammed against the house & chimney. Took us months to cut up all those trees.

We found a baby squirrel about five years back, and nursed it back to health with baby formula. We planned on re-introducing it to the wild, but the darn thing got so attached to us it wouldn't go away. Any time it would see us, it would scamper over, climb up, and perch on one of our shoulders. We were afraid to let it go because it might jump on someone who didn't know it was tame - give them a heartattack.

We still have it - and it's turned out to be a great pet. Squirrels are amazingly smart, and if you treat them right when they're young, they can be good critters.

I always like to hide things when I do projects. I usually take an entire newspaper or (ads & all) and stick them in the walls before I sheetrock. I would like to thing that somebody down the line will find them and appreciate it.

Last fall, my insulation project, installing insulation in the farmhouse attic (had nothing), I needed to pull up the T&G floorboards. The first floor of the house had been built in 1800. Walls and beams are logs. In the mid 1800's they (my great-great grandparents) removed the roof, added a second floor, then replaced the roof. Later on, the floorboards were laid in the attic and decades of stuff got stored up there. When I removed the boards to install insulation, I found a Christian Newspaper from 1875, Printed in Cleveland Ohio. Also found my Great-Great-Grandmother's hand written Birth Certificate dated December 1, 1835, in near perfect condition. Found my Great Grandmothers bible from 1872, had some photos in the family tree section, I'm assuming they were of her parents.
