For those of you who read my last post, thank you for your input. What I am looking at now is a B8200. He says it is about an 83 with fwd and the 3 range gear drive. It comes with a Kingkutter 5 foot finishing mower for the 3 point hitch. It is mostly used for mowing and has 1600+ hrs on it. He was asking 8000 for it, but said he would come down to 6500. What do you think?

Ok. I've red a little on here that parts are a little hard to come by for this model tractor. I have also heard that you can't get the correct size rear tires. Might have been that the person wasn't looking in the right places, but is there any truth to any of this?

My parents have a b8200 and it has been a great tractor for them, it's about 29 years old and has about 4800 hours. Be careful with hour claims on this machine because it only has a 3 digit hour meter so each time it rolls over a thousand it's back at all zeros. I'm not much help on rear tires as my parents still have the originals but they have replaced the fronts with no issues. I didn't seem to remember the rears being an odd size but can't remember the exact size, 12.4x24? It's a great all around tractor that can do a lot. If you have any more questions ask, I've spent a lot of time on this machine.

FWIW, I recently sold a very clean '87 B8200 gear drive tractor, with good (but original) turf tires, Bush Hog loader, Deere heaby duty 5' rear blade, rear tire chains, power steering (important optional/add on feature) work lights and other mods with about 650 hours, fully maintained, for $7500. The fact this tractor lived inside a barn for most of its life made a huge difference in appearance and tires. I probably could have gotten more for it, as it turned out.

One question. Can the rear wheels be moved outboard on this model? I looked at a b7200 that was set up like that with would help out with mowing on a side slope. When I mow with my craftsman I sometimes have to sit on the edge of the seat to keep traction.

You can get spacers to move out the wheels. I hear it may cause issues with a MMM but 2 or 3" spacers can be made by Motorsport Tech. I plan to go 2.5" on our B9200 HST. It will help with handling the 5' bushog.

I went and looked at it yesterday. I tried it out and it seemed to cut and run good. no noisy deck sounding like it was going to fall apart, so I loaded it up and brought it home. Rear tires still look like new and the front ones are just starting to crack, but still lots of tread. I need to clean the gunk off the bottom of the deck, but still cutting nice.......even got 2 extra sets of blades. All in all I think I got a good deal.
