A clutch can be grabby when you engage it if it has oil on it BUT it could slip after engagement under load.
The other possibility could be mice in the bell housing replaced many clutches because of mouse $ht and nest one was so bad it took out the T/O bearing and input shaft when the guy started it.
The real solution to the problem is to do it right take it apart and look at it.
He had this problem in the past and it doesn't look as if its getting any better.
