‘Barney Miller,’ ‘Sanford and Son’ actor Gregory Sierra dies

NEW YORK (AP) — Gregory Sierra, who had memorable roles in the 1970s sitcoms “Barney Miller" and “Sanford and Son," has died after battling cancer. He was 83.

I remember him in Barney Miller. Never much watched Sanford And Son.

I sort of recall him from this picture. He’s been “retired” ever since his head trama long ago.

Sharn Jean and I saw him on stage in Las Vegas in the Summer of 1970. He performed well, but you could tell that he wasn't his old self; his speech was a bit halting, as I remember, and he looked rather frail.

Hal Holbrook passed away.

He was a great actor.
