I remember going to see the Old Man when I was a youngster. About 8 0r 9. It was a real big deal especially for my grandparents who had never been out of the state . To bad.

i know it wasn't a family member, nor was it a great friend, but i feel for u and your state, a lost treasure for sure! hate to see old things go ! i have a dumb tree that has to come down, it is a pain in the ****, dirty tree, cause lots of work, but it must come down, yet i try to put if off> took so long for it to grow, and i have looked at it for so long, not sure how i can deal without it. sounds stupid don't it?

No your tree story does'nt sound stupid. I had a few oaks I had to take because of a pasture coming in. I counted (quickly) over 170 rings on one. Could have been upwards of 200. I sat for a while and just wondered what this tree might have been through...... made me sad to think how quickly the years go by...... and all from an acorn seed somewhere.......
