Kubota M7040
I called the Kubota dealer and asked them if the snow blower was ready for me to pick up (they had to cut the PTO shaft_ and they said yep. Sweet, They load it on the trailer and I've finally got it home. I picked it off my trailer and started to hook everything up. Got the lifting arms set up for Cat 2....check. Hook up the PTO shaft.......dammit!

They didn't cut the shaft. I know it's not hard but after spending $5,500 and them saying they would cut it, I want them to do it. I called them and they said they will try to cut one for my tractor today and if I don't hear from them by 4pm to give them a call. Okay, I'll do that.

My neighbor across the street does some farming and heavy equipment/excavation stuff so he helped my get hooked up the first time. Then I went ahead and hooked up the top link so I could move everything back into the barn and out of the driveway. That's when I noticed we should have put the pins in the lower holes on the lifting arms.....just wasn't able to lift the blower as high as I'd like with the small hills I've got. Got everything set up now and a little more practice horsing the attachment around doesn't hurt.more

I took my PTO shaft off the blower so I can just swap them for the cut shaft. Boy this now blower is big, I'm sure it's going to make quick work of my driveway and some other areas.

Loaded for bear! Looks good.
I have a 6' blower from my previous tractor, and now it just barely covers my tracks. It will suffice.

Not Hst, it's a M series with hyd shuttle shift. Going to do my best to take care of it to make it last. Hopefully my first and last.

So how does that compare to a fronted mounted blower, does one have an advantage over the other?

I'm am the wrong guy to ask. This is my first tractor, but I'll share what I've learned/had passed along to me.

My only thoughts are front would be easier to use but a PTO front mount isn't available for the M7040. They have them for the L series on down and a lot of people get them for ease of use.

Rear mount cost's less and is easier to mount/dismount. Front is easier to use (no neck strain) but cost more and are more involved to install/remove.

On a tractor that size prefer a 3pt rear mount blower, I've been using them since 1985. The cabs are big enough that you can sit somewhat sidesaddle to the right where your controls are and look to your right out the back window quite comfortably. You've also got better maneuverability with what is now rear steering. I'm using a 92" double auger on my 5115m, it's labeled kubota like yours but actually a RAD technology's made in Canada . Yours is also a RAD technology's made unit, I really like them , excellent blowers. I've also got a 84" identical to yours that I bought a few years ago and I've never used, just sets in the pole barn, probably should sell it. I see your dealer is Ginops, that's who I deal with , I'm only 7miles from there Williamsburg store. I've always been happy with them. Congratulations on your very nice set up , I think your going to be quite happy with it. I'm hoping we get a little more snow up here than last year and make the blower earn its keep.

Thanks for your insights! That 5115M with the double auger is some serious machinery! I'm about 15 minutes away from their Alanson store.

I've got a question for you. When I leave the paved driveway to do around my pole barns (and maybe a bit less that 1/2 mile on the main two tracker on my property) should I have the blower in float or just keep it a little off the ground? I guess I'd rather leave just a bit of snow than dig into anything.

More snow sounds good to me now that I won't be horsing around a walk behind.
