QUOTE=MotorSeven;2915696]Hudson probably has the worse rep when it comes to customer service out of any brand I can think of,....other than the Chinese stuff. That is the only reason I never considered one but they do make a pretty decent mill.[/QUOTE]

The Hudson mills are no where near the quality and robustness of the Woodmizer. Not even close
The may make sense for the occassional user or where money is an issue.
The engine on their smallest mill is only 6.5 HP but it does make lumber pretty well especially in softwood.

Well, as I suspected, that oak tree is too close to the porch roof....5" is not enough. We had a brief high wind storm and about an inch of rain all in less than an hr. This morning I immediately checked that cut out around the tree on the porch roof and could see marks on the trunk and a "kiss" on the flashing and roof edge. It looks like this tree will have to come down before it does some real damage to my brand new roof. Oh well, I gave it my best shot..........
Pic's to follow.

I was wondering about this when the storm blew through.

That's too bad, plan to take it down yourself or hire someone with equipment.

Here is the mark on the tree:

And the edge of the roof(looks worse than it is, about 1/4" indented):

I am going to have to take care of this before we get a "real" Northerner or it will be able to do some serious damage.

And here are some wiring pic's, we are almost ready for the rough-in inspection:
PorchTreewiring008.jpg

We are running stranded up from a box in the basement to the switches, then on to a box on top of the log walls. This way the 1/2 EMT is not an issue for us:

The "busiest" wall in the house/basement:

I also started on the shower in the basement. I wanted a glass block wall to let light in with an opening, no door. Well, I almost fainted when I priced out a 80"x54" blocks, mortar and grout.....$$$$500.00. Nope, that is not happening, so I went to a salvage store and bought a single window with divided lights for $20:

Les said something about red gingham curtains & old barn wood & window frame on the outside....sounds good to me.
