It's been an extremely mild winter to date but the cold is here and the snow will soon follow. The chains are on, I don't use a blade anymore, just the FEL, so let it snow.

I did my yard/drive last winter with FEL. Worked great. The only problem I found was the front edge/lip of my bucket showed a bit of wear after the winter from being pushed along the frozen dirt so much. If you have a bolt on lip/cutting edge you would be much better off. (I can't remember what it is called, but I'm sure you know what I mean) I purchased a rear mount snowblower this year. (Puma 64) Good thing I did!!! I think we've had two storms already! First was 2" and the second was around 4"!!! hahaha
My bucket pushed snow easily without chains so I'm sure you won't have any issues at all.

Great pictures and good luck. Looks great!

I finally had a chance to push a little snow around this morning (about 2 inches) and with the exception of not getting much heat in the cab it was nice being in out of the weather. The three rear view mirrors really come in handy when you are out along the highway, in fact I found myself turning around and had to remind myself that I had mirrors to use. The FEL works well on a driveway of my length and the shuttle shift makes it smooth to move in either direction. I think the chains on the front, for this snow at least, were overkill, I could have moved the snow in 2 wd without any problems. This was just a warmup for the big snows to come!!

Hope nobody minds but I am trying to see if I can insert a pic in my message without anyone having to download the picture first.

I am interested in gathering information about grapples. Yours has a claw mounted on the orginal bucket? Did you buy it or make it?

Thanks.

Dan

I bought it Dan from a company in the midwest: Home. It's called the Big Arm.

We got six inches of heavy wet snow, here's a pic from inside the cab while moving the white stuff.

"pic from inside the cab"

I'm jealous, I just got done moving 10+" of snow and sleet on my CK25 while freezing my butt off. Then I found out my 4 wheel drive isn't engaging on my pickup, maybe I'll take the Kioti to work tomorrow.

FEL & back blade did a number on the heavy, crusty snow that's been coming down all day. The addition of a canopy on my tractor worked out really well, keeping the snow & rain off my increasingly sparse noggin. Now if I could only keep my hands warm.

kentrodngun how much snow did you guys end with today outta that storm? We've got about 30" as 8:00pm and still coming.... Did not bother to break out the Kioti today, might as well wait 'til it's over. Can't wait till tomorrow.

We got around 24" and its still coming down.. I got my quad of the garage and made an attempt but to no avail.. I have a canvas cab for my grizzly and a 5 ft moose plow that usually does pretty well, not today though. I had to get the ck30 out and she worked her butt off. 2 1/2 hours later and 800' of driveway with 6' snow banks along most of the way... I finally got in the house and thawed out... A heated cab sure would have been nice today.. :)

I had a quad last winter too, BK (before Kioti), no way in Hades it would have gone anywhere in this.... Figured I'd get to it tomorrow morn before the winds kick up. There are eight 18whlrs jackknifed on Rt 87, six of 'em in one spot, numerous cars and trucks in the ditches and woods. They'll be cleaning this up for days. Each ambulance dispatched is getting a plow escort and some are still not making the calls. Bad stuff.

I've added a pic of the snow as of 7:30pm. In the foreground in the wife's Kia Sorrento and my Silverado behind. It's nothing compared to Oswego County though, 120-145 inches in the last week. 12' of snow fell in Redfield, NY in the heart of the Tug Hill Plateau, we got nothing on them yet.
