Wow, Ohio didn't rank very well. I'm pretty happy here, other than the twelve hour work days, and all the bitterly cold weather.............well come to think of it, maybe it does kind of suck

Maine stayed off both ends of the list. We have nothing to feel good--or bad--about.

I was trying to correlate the rankings with the general amount of happy feelings, or whining, done by TBN members in those states. Maybe we don't have a valid statistical sample here.

I really expected to see Illinois on the "bad" list. I don't have any experience living in other states, so I have no comparison, but I keep hearing everyone complain how bad of shape this state is in. Maybe our problems aren't part of the criteria for how they determined the rankings.

On the net it, seems to be mostly grumpy old men! :)

So the "Well being index" scores for the "best of the best" are 70.4 (ND) and the "worst of the worst" at 61.4 (WV)...I would have thought it would be a larger spread. Without actually reading the articles, I'd have to guess income has a lot to do with things.

It's hard to be happy if you're really broke. (and no, not being able to get that 3rd large screen when you want it ain't "really broke", to me.)

Works for me here in Vermont...or maybe its just my lifestyle lol!

But I do think the state has a lot going for it in general and the statistics seem to represent that. Environment, food, education, healthcare, even jobs. I think there is a great concern for people here.

When I lived in Maine most people I met were very happy. They easily opened up and were friendly even to those of us "from away". ;)

Interesting survey. In general, it looks to me like Northern states did best and Southern states did poorly --- based on the criteria of this particular survey. Yet, where are people moving --- certainly not North or to the rust belt.

Also, there is no doubt the best college football is in the South.

Nicer weather and the best college football --- I think I will stay.
