That's another thing my parents got after I moved out! 🤣

The first house my wife and I bought had central air. Man I thought that was great! She had it since she was a kid, so was not impressed. :cautious:
My folks did the same, and started buying cars with air conditioning, something that they had categorically ruled out when the kids were home. 🤣 Still makes me smile.

Times change.

All the best, Peter

This is true. I never wanted heated seats, until I had them on a vehicle. Now I require heated and ventilated seats. I'm getting soft in my old age.:)

I don’t think it’s a “soft” thing. I’m still an ass kicker at work, but I love my heated & cooled seats. I think it’s a “smart” thing.

If I get all sweaty “down there”, the cooled seats do a great job drying me out and avoiding all those nasty, uncomfortable afflictions.

Seat heat keeps the lower muscles loose and feeling like working or hunting.

So its a medical requirement.
Submit the cost to your insurance provider yet? ;)

In 1979, we moved to Culpeper VA from Mananasas. Soon after we moved in, my father bought a Pioneer stereo that looked very much like that. I thought it was the coolest thing I had ever seen.

When I started hunting in the late 80's, I wore walmart boots that were too small with cheap thermal socks.....cold and blisters.. years later I bought a pair of Rocky boots and was amazed.
in the mid 90's a friend bought a fuji mtn bike and wanted me to go with him on some rides....I didn't have a bike, so he gave me his old columbia bike...it was a tank...a few years later, I was in the Army, in Germany and did some Mtn biking on it with some other soldiers. One of them told my wife that I needed a real bike of I was gonna get killed. She convinced me to buy a 1999 Corretec Mtn bike. I loved that thing. I put many thousand miles on that bike over the next decade, I just got rid of it 2 years ago, after we got Ebikes.
I remember doing some DIY projects and my father gave me a Jet contractor's table saw. The cuts were perfect and the quality of my work changed overnight. I think that was the most revolutionary moment for me to know that good tools make a massive difference.
Car's was mentioned
I have a long commute and bought a Tesla a year ago...I pay $100 a month for FSD. That is the best luxury expense I have ever had.

A wedding license. Our anniversary is today, together 53 years...and in a few hours a coffin for my 98yo Mother who passed Friday.
Life is strange or as my Mother said before passing the meaning of life is "To learn to love".

Sorry for your loss Fuddy. On the other hand, congratulations on 53 years of (from all indications) marital bliss.
We love each other dearly. That's because we fight constantly.
Actually I have to laugh and I'm sure it's a male-female thing. I answer yes or no to everything and can tell a story in 30 seconds or less. She is unable to answer yes or no and no story is less than 10 minutes.

2004 bought a brand new snowmobile after living away from the Midwest for 5 yrs. I really missed winter.

What time frame was this? Pretty much standard equipment for the last 35 years or so.

I really enjoy snowmobiling too, but when my current one dies that's it for me. The way winters have been last few years, it's way too much money for something I'll only get a couple months' use out of a year. Registration alone comes to $150/yr.

Yes, it was well more than 35 years ago.👨‍🦳 Then again, their parents were buying cars with AC at least a decade before they gave in. Some habits die hard. AC didn't go into the house until 2000 or so. (Near Chicago).

You remind me that I need to get rid of my deep snow back country cross country skis, bought and used for winter camping.

All the best,

Peter

I don't know if it was really a luxury item.
I was 12-13 and got tired of wearing the bargain basement pants and jeans Ma and Pa where buying me.
I did extra chores around the farm to get a few extra bucks together.
Then I went and bought 3 pairs of Levi's jeans and a pair of Adidas.
My old man almost had a stroke when he found out the jeans were $18/pair and the runners were almost $30.
But you had to have certain things to fit in at school.

Brand new snowmobiles will easily set you back 15k. + poor winters definitely hurt the industry. Remember 15 yrs ago a buddy and me were trailering machines to and from the copper country up north. We drove thru a small town south of the kiwi as some call it. saw a half dozen riders on a quickly melting patch of snow. Surrounded by bare gravel. I can imagine and experienced the amount of wear and abuse $10k+ machines took on that ride. I look for 25+ yr old machines same brands similar models to have quite the inventory of spare parts and useable snowmobiles biles. I use th colder machines mostly around my hobby farm down state. With one time vintage registration so they can be legally driven on public trails without expensive yearly trail permits if and when they open. still ride newer machines up north though. Usually left over mo del years 600 CC or less with longer tracks to better handle deep snow on abandoned two tracks up north Jokingly went into a dealership 2 yrs ago when it seemed like winter never happened with any measurable lasting snow. Salesman joked with me buyone snowmobile you get 8:free. 😂. Anyways Yamaha is out of developing and manufacturing new machines I feel Arctic cat will be next. 30 yrs ago where I grew up, you could snowmobile from late nov- late March no problem. Even Late April if you trailered it into the deep woods.
