The right dealer can make a BIG difference.

I really wonder sometimes what the dealers are thinking. In our area, we're fortunate enough to have 3 different Deere guys within 50 miles or so; makes it a bit easier to haggle..

We also have 3 dealerships in about 50 miles, all owned by the same person

When it is a good dealer, that is great, but when it is not, a total nightmare.

Congrats on the 3005! I bought a 790 w/300 loader not quite a year ago. Deere dealer in town was exellent to work with. After using loader a while seemed a tad on weak side. Talked to dealer, they came out "Shimmed" me up and the sky is the limit, well you know what I mean! Deere might cost a little more, but the service if and when needed is second to none.

Sound's like he is referring to the optional shim's that can be placed in the hydro pump, or where ever under the seat they go, to up the line pressure in the hydro system so you can lift more.

The shims go under the preasure relief valve spring cover. Takes about 5 minutes. The 790 comes set well below the rated pressure.

look up the thread "long term effects 790 hydraulics" Willl put up a pdf with the part numbers needed. Just ordered them. Shim kit is three dollars. The pressure gauge and hose are about thirty a piece. Might find a cheaper gauge but I wanted to get it done.
