While I was busy helping my chapter of the Izaak Walton League host the state convention Saturday, my dealer called to inform me my tractor is finally all here and ready to deliver! I plan to drive up there after school Monday to check it out and probably have it delivered Tuesday. To refresh everyone's memory, it's a Case DX29, HST, 114 Loader, 60" QA bucket, Ag tires, rear hydraulic outlets, plumbing to the loader attach point controlled by the auxilliary valve, and plumbing from there to a bolt on grapple. It was the delivery of the grapple from Precision Manufacturing in Missouri that has been the hold up. The QA bucket and Ag tires arrived pretty quickly and the hydraulic valving and plumbing were things my dealer has in stock.

But now the weather is calling for cold and rainy this week, so I may not even get much chance to use it for a bit. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Don't be a wimp /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I run my TC-24D at 30 below given the chance! Congrats on the new machine, I've been following your shopping excursion - should be the perfect setup for you.

I'm in the Adirondacks, and you aren't kidding about the cold rain this week. I've been chomping at the bit to get out fly fishing and have tomorrow off, but I think its going to be a waste of time. I should keep working on finishing my addition and get the final staining and painting done. Should get me some good Brownie points

Congrats again. Can't wait to some pics.

I've also followed your buying process and it sounds like you are going to have a great machine. No tooth bar or is that going to be put on later? I hope you enjoy your new tractor, will give you something to look forward to when you get home from school. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Oleozz -- I'm going to replicate my "ice solution" combination tooth bar/manure fork tool, but use 3"channel steel instead of the 2" I had on the little 'bota. If you missed those posts, it's basically a set of short forks, about 10 or 12" long extending from the cutting bar of the bucket -- just perfect for sliding under logs and brush so I can close the grapple on it and haul it where I want it. I can hardly wait! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Congrats, nothing like new iron! Post photos soon. I have trouble keeping up with all the mergers, is case also new holland or is case also MF or is case just case? Thankx, scott.

Case/New Holland is owned by Fiat, or at least it was the last time I knew. Agco/Allis owns Massey.

No way, I would'nt get it mucky. Just admire it & take photos from every conceivable angle. Should be one pretty machine especially with the grapple.

Congratulations.....was a long time coming.

Hey Rich,
Way to go! I'd go out there and least drive her around and try everything out. Determine the best place to mount your tool boxes etc. Drive her up some of those steep slopes on your property to see how she handles them in adverse conditions....but be careful. You can always hose her off after that. Makes for good bonding and a perfect time to check all the nuts and bolts while wiping her down.

You could always bring it down here and help me mow. I've still got about 15 acres left. I'll save it for you if you want. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Oh and congrats on your new machine. I know you spent a lot of time pouring over the scruples...

Rich, You were much more patient than I would be. Good luck. Daotherteacher.

I plan to do a "shakedown cruise" at the dealership tonight and get it delivered tomorrow, presuming everything is working right.

I'm really glad I went out to see it before having it delivered. It seems that the service department is pretty busy with the start of planting and mowing seasons. I drove the tractor around, checked the levers, all the controls, picked up a 4x6 with the grapple, then when parking it noticed a black bucket sitting there on a shipping pallet.

Hmmmmm, says me. That looks like it would fit on this tractor. About then I noticed that the bucket on the tractor to which they had attached the grapple was the standard pin-on bucket. They hadn't switched to the QA bucket! The service manager figures they can do that before delivering it this afternoon. I hope so. They'll call if it won;t be here at 3:30 or so. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

BTW, I got a free hat for my grandson. The A plan pricing saved me about $1200. That combined with the good trade-in allowed for my 'bota puts the whole rig in my shop for just about $14.500.

Okay John, this one's for you. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif It's also long. Sorry about that.

I started the other thread because I figured the frustration of not getting either the delivery or the phone call was sufficiently different, mostly dealing with aggravation at the situation rather than the tractor itself.

Anyways, the tractor did arrive today, all set for work, about 1/2 hour after the promised delivery time. Unfortunately, while the guy was running through all the delivery inspection, explanation, etc., my wife arrived home earlier than usual. The truck and trailer were backed into the driveway, blocking her entrance from a 60 mph road near a blind corner. We unloaded the tractor and went up the road to turn around in the loop drive of a house I'm trying to sell while my wife drove up the street to turn herself around and come back. For those who are wondering, an F250 2wd does not haul a tandem trailer up a drive with too much gravel just added to it very well. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif It also tends to make a serious mess of the driveway. It took about 15 minutes of back and fill, go a bit, get stopped, back and fill, etc. before we got up beyond the deep gravel and were able to turn the rig around.

Then we had to come up the driveway he should have come up in the first place, turn around, and load the Kubota. About this time the driver discovered someone had the wrong hitch ball on the truck and decided to switch to the right one. We were entertained with stories about this and that, finally got the paperwork signed, and the guy was on his way home. I figured I needed to repair the driveway with all the ruts and bumps in it before my renters tried to drive in.

By 8:00, the driveway was more or less fixed. I have learned that a full 60" bucket of limestone on the DX 29 with no rear weight is more stable than half a 42" bucket with rear ballast on Kubota. I also learned that the new tractor will just barely pull itself up my working driveway in road range and 2wd. Perhaps it's because I'm not used to the hydro, but it seemed it would either spin the tires or stall out. I'm hoping it's due to my ineptness, but at this point I would suggest that anyone looking at the mid size DX or TC series should get the larger engine, either the 33 or 34, instead of the 29 or 31.

It rolls into my garage easily with the ROPS down, but if I'm wearing a "tuk" or any headgear other than a baseball cap, my head will rub the door. With the ROPS up it makes it under my shop door with about and inch and a half to spare. It just fits between the racks of firewood in my woodshed. The Kubota went in there easily, but the entrance is around a corner and next to a large tree, making it a little close, especially with the extra length of the arch arm loader on the Case. The ROPS is out of the question in the woodshed, as expected, and my head easily clears the ceiling, again as expected. If I'm not careful when getting on or off, however, it will hurt. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

With all that, I didn't get to take any pics, but I should have a chance tomorrow. I'll post them on the Case forum so if anyone wants to see the ag tires on this machine, the grapple plumbing, and so on, we'll be raising the post count over there.

Here at last, here at last, the DX29 is here at last! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Oh yeah, I have another free hat coming next time I'm over near the dealership.
