Hey Rich, Don't know how close you are to a dealer but when I see those new tractors come in on the truck they are setting in a steel cage. You might be able to get some of that before they do whatever they do with it. Good luck

Yes that would be cool but I would guess they are broken down and exchanged during the next delivery. I don't know what brand those are but I know Kubota delivers them in plain old wood. They had a few at the dealership last week when I went by to pick mine up.

The ATV dealers do get them in steel, they are stacked at the dealership I'll have to ask them.

I've mentioned it in my thread about my Dump Trailer that I've been using the steel from these ATV racks. There's a lot of 1 1/2" tube in one of these racks. It's a little hard to cut the welds apart without cutting into the tubing, but I've been able to salvage quite a bit out of just the first one that I cut apart.

It's pretty thin walled...about 1/16" inch. I wouldn't make anything too heafty out of it.

I read over the link, lot's of activity on that one! Great job so far. What I did not see is mention of the ATV racks, I must have missed it. Do you get them from one dealer or several ? Are they charging you for the metal or do they seem receptive to giving it away ? I would think with the price of metal today at least some dealers if they do not get a deposit for them would sell them to the local scrap yard to recover some costs.

I got mine from my brother who worked at an ATV dealership. I know he didn't pay anything for them.

Each dealership is probably different. You can't be hurt by asking, though.

For what metal costs nowadays, when somebody tells us they've got something made of steel that they just want somebody to haul off, we GO GET IT!

All of the Kioti tractors come in steel frames, at least at the dealer I bought mine from. He has several frames stacked up, I have some plans bouncing around for a small trailer and I think one of the smaller frames would work great.
