I don't recall ever having this many. They are everywhere! The dogs think they are delicious. No upset stomachs yet, but I try to limit their intake.

As a kid, we used to collect the shells and the stage "The Cicada Wars"; or attack of the giant cicadas, or scare your little sister events.

Amazing how many people wouldn't touch a Cicada shell!

We had them BAD last year, right about this same time. There are different broods all over the use that hatch at different intervals. Ours was a double whammy of 2 broods hatching at the same time. My dog ate them like candy too. I have heard people eat them too.

They are in the woods behind the house. Very few around our yard. Sounds like thousands of bad throw out bearings to me.

I never scared my sister with a cicada, but I got her GOOD with a dead snake that I found.

We had a door at the foot of the stairway that went upstairs, and the light didn't work in the stairway, so it was always dark when walking down the stairs. I wrapped the dead snake around the doorknob, so she grabbed it when opening the door. She let out a huge shriek, and I was SO proud!

I was mowing yesterday, and I could still hear them quite clearly over the loud zeroturn mower.

I hear them everywhere I go. Just about all day long, everyday of the year. Especially after reading the word cicada.

I hear them even in the middle of winter when everything is dormant or frozen.

I have that issue, too. I try not to think about it, or it would drive me batty.

Never thought of it as cicadas Mr. Bigtiller, but I hear them all the time too.

And now after reading your post, I can't "NOT" hear them!!!
