I'm working on a custom built "dump tractor" plans right now...I scored a Kubota B6000E (2 cyl, 2wd with a backwards PTO... I got it for the woods mower and dozer blade for my Beaver... so since I will have a running tractor for not much money with hydraulics.... and I like to fabricate things.... I'm seriously thinking about it

Hey Freakingstang, I just got given a "bota" that looks like yours, only not as good. It's a G1800 but I need to replace/rebuild the motor. Now that I've seen yours I HAVE to have a stack like that when it's alive again, it's awesome. Do all G1800 have 4WS? Cause the one I've got has got it.

The G1700, G1800, and G1900 are all basically the same tractor.

The 'S' models were 4 wheel steer. Mine is not an S model, mine is just a regular two wheel steer.

I made the stack relatively easy... here was the first design..... It was sweet sounding but it was way too loud mowing for an hour or more....I cut a flange out of 3/8" steel and used a 2" J bend I had laying around from an old exhaust project. I had to notch the hood slightly...

I then decided to modify the factory muffler. I cut the small tip off of it, dilled a few holes down in the baffle and then welded the Stainless 90 on it.. I too had that laying around..

Sounds cool, looks cool. You should see some of the looks I get from people when I'm mowing and they drive by... lol Shortly after this pic was taken ( the original pic in the thread, I was using my tow behind spreader and had it sitting there idleing and the exhaust note changed. I continued raking and didn't think much of it.. I walked over after 10-15 minutes and found this..

The real bummer was that I was going to take off the pipe ( i made it to where I could just cut the U bend off and bolt the muffler back on if I ever wanted to sell it. Well I found a used BX I want and was going to take it off so I could trade it in...

MY advise.... Support the stack!... I know the vibration and the added stress of the taller pipe and thin walled exhaust tubing added to the resonance to eventually over stressed the little 6mm exh studs. I'm waiting on my new manifold to show up. I brazed it back together and cut the stack off and it works for now, but I know its only a matter of time before it breaks again. I can't in good conscious trade it in like that.

While you are at it...change the hydrostatic fluid and filter. Theres a ton of things you can make or ad to these stout little garden tractors. Heres my rear hitch. Just a simple piece of steel with some holes and a 2 1/2" box tube that will accept a reese style hitch

I've thought about building one of those, too. I think it would be quite handy, and if I ever find another small tractor for a reasonable enough price I think I'm going to do one, too. You probably already have seen this, or a similar thing, but it was new to me: Johnson 2HG dumper restoration, Petter powered dumper - diggers, dumpers, plant

There is a very informative brochure about the unit. It holds about 2/3 yard in the hopper ('skip', as they call it) with a one ton capacity. There is a thread here on TBN about converting a Shibaura built Ford 1700 into a forklift, where the builder simply swapped the side the ring gear was mounted in order to drive backward with the regular selection of forward gears.

Rear steer would make it maneuverable and easier to steer, and having the weight on the much stronger rear axle would keep things from breaking. On mine I think I will do a short scissors lift for the hopper, with a hydraulically controlled dump. This would allow precise application of things like concrete or gravel up over obstacles like retaining walls, or to pour on a level above what the hopper would normally reach.

I'm really interested to see this build, and know you have the talent and tools to do it well.

thanks for the links. I haven't put much thought into it yet. I bought the
B6000E with a CCW woods RM59 finish mower, front dozer blade and kubota wheel weights for 700 bucks. I strictly bought it for the attachments and was going to sell the tractor, but thought it would be cool... I have too many projects going on right now so if I keep it, it won't be anytime soon...
