You know? Something just occured to me. I'm a hunter as well as a fan of wildlife. But I have to admit that when I look at deer in pictures I catch myself picking for the best "shot placement"!?

We see does regularly in our back yard browsing for acorns. They are part of less than a dozen in the area and all look in good condition. Before the rutting season we had 3 bucks in the back yard at the same time. Most recently there was an eight point buck looking in the kitchen window from about 12 feet out when I came into the kitchen first thing in the morning. They have not been a problem so I do not plan to hunt them.

I am thinking that next hunting season, I will cut my hunters season off two weeks early and then invite as many friends and family as possible out for a doe hunt. The over population of deer is a growing concern to me... a major concern indeed.

You need a new friend? I can always find room in my freezer for deer meat.

In Loudoun county, VA I saw recently a pack of deer totaling 25 or so animals. The habitat fits them really well, Loudoun hunting season starts at September! and ends in March and they still are not able to get it under control. Loudoun also has a lot of Lyme disease cases.

Yea i think 45-50+ per sq mi is high like most of SC. If you have 15 deer per acre you would not have any grass no flowers and one heck of a browse line at 5-6FT. Maybe you meant sq mi like was pointed out. Oh ye your doe weight would probly avg around 65lbs with a 90 lb er being huge.
