Preparing for building a garage and had a tree in the way, actually 3. Probably would rent a stump grinder if anywhere else but, these stumps had to come up. This one is a 24" walnut. Nice tree but a royal pain and sits in my future driveway. The 2310 did a great job. I've been getting good at digging stumps and can tear roots apart pretty easily so, I made this my latest task. Now getting it out of the hole I used my truck. I think this stump comes close to equaling the tractors weight.

There is that gratification when you finely get it out. I really wanted to show this one off and no one was around. After the first few hour I was wondering if I was going to get this one out. I like to scoop them up under the backhoe and drive it around scarring all the other trees.

Hey,, Hi there everyone. What a coincidence I found this site just when I finally got my new tractor busy. M.F 1533 .. 1575 back hoe and 72 in. mid mower. Just pulled 3 large stumps this weekend ... WOW... what fun that was but then I used the mower for the first time and was amazed at the ease of it. I've been on my acreage for 10 years with a little push mower and a hand shovel for snow. This machine is a god send....
This site looks pretty cool so far and this is my first post so howdy all...
tried to get some photos up but had problems. ... next time I guess.

Airic-Hope you didn't burn/grind that stump. Round these parts, the right walnut burl will fetch a pretty penny...in fact BIG trees have even been cut down and stolen out of the ground!

It was a great feeling when I got my 1533 to remove oak stumps my dad's 165 couldn't budge!

Really, the stump is worth money? What do they do with the stump? I haven't burned it but it is sitting on the burn pile ready to go. I think I'll have to pull it aside then. I did cut the main trunks into 12' sections and looking for someone to mill it for me. I only had two large walnut trees so I'm keeping the wood for my house remodeling project. Lots of heart wood through and it is some beautiful wood.

I have also heard of gunsmiths making gunstock (high dollar) out of walnut burl.

How and who do I sell this too. Would you throw it up on craigs list - 24" Walnut stumps for sale? $200? Just seems sort of strange but then again, I've sold cotten wood bark for $5 a piece, great for carving.

I think the shipping estimate is going to be pretty high on that one!!

Check the yellow pages for a local guy with a bandsaw mill........ he would know who is buying what perhaps as might a small local sawmill if there is one. Another place to look is in the classifieds of some woodworking magazines. I have seen ads looking for unusual wood there on occasion. If walnut is native in your area then there should be a local market.
