I have been reading this forum for years now and learned more than I can possibly ever thank you for. The amount of information here is tremendous. Both in this and other forums. Some of the stories are the best I have ever read. I think many of them will save me and others from repeating the mistake and or getting hurt. This is for those readers that may be in the position I was. Several years ago (yes years). Green is in my blood as I had a 1940’s JD B from age 10. I tried other colors but just couldn’t do it. I did have a great deal of fun test driving. I did all the research and I was very close to buying a 4110 or a 4115. I decided I could do without it and bought my wife a new car instead. Then came college tuition for my daughter and many of you know about that. Well a couple of years later I finally did it. I purchased a little smaller machine a 2305 with a FEL, MMM and a backhoe. Why; because I am not getting any younger and decided if I didn’t do it now I would never do it. The 2305 is because I still need to mow the grass. I went to a local dealer looking for a good price (fair to everyone). I was ready to buy and looking for a 2305 and FEL thinking I would buy toys (I mean attachments later). After shopping everyone else within a 100 mile radius, we walk in and my wife says she wants the 2305 with the backhoe that is on the lot. She never says anything at dealers. Negotiation over right ? Well to my surprise the price quote was very fair and more than I expected. For those of you who are reading this in the same undecided condition I was. Yes it is worth it, I have done weeks of work in days. The dealer location and compatibility, with you, are everything they say in this forum. I purchased the backhoe because I wanted it eventually and it was sitting there already installed. It also brings back memories of running one in my high school days when life was simpler and digging was fun. Digging still is. The little hoe is small but it will get the job done within reason. Maybe this time I will get good at it. Spending hours in the seat, smiling more every day.
Just for information purposes. I have 6 acres in N.H, a long unpaved driveway, a 318 which I use to mow and plow in the winter at another property . We still own the B but it needs restoration; although if asked to start it might.
There is nothing like the smell of Diesel in the morning
